Olena Kassian’s work has appeared on billboards, product labels and magazine advertisements. In addition to creating images for adult publications, she has illustrated 17 children’s books and written 4. Olena also makes large black and white drawings on mylar, which can be seen at Oeno Gallery, and on her fine art website olenakassian.com.

“It was tremendous fun to paint Nicholas! Because the Shiba is a Japanese breed, I developed a fresh technique combining dry-bush on the puppy’s fur to suggest its softness, adding wet brush-work to gently echo Japanese calligraphy.
Puppies are irresistible; as I worked to infuse this little fellow with the charm and energy of my Shiba, Nikki, I delighted in memories of the many puppies that have touched my life – I hope Nicholas evokes that same pleasure for you!”
